Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to explore the life and art of Frida Kahlo and create their own Frida-inspired artwork.
Materials and Prep
- White paper or canvas
- Coloring materials (crayons, colored pencils, or markers)

Introduction to Frida Kahlo
Show the student pictures of Frida Kahlo's artwork and briefly explain who she was. Discuss some of the elements in her paintings, such as vibrant colors, self-portraits, and symbolism.

Create a Self-Portrait
Encourage the student to create their own self-portrait using the coloring materials. Remind them to include details that represent themselves, just like Frida Kahlo did in her paintings.

Cut and Collage
Print out or provide pictures of Frida Kahlo's artwork. Guide the student to cut out different elements from the prints and create a collage on a separate sheet of paper or canvas. They can arrange the cutouts in a way that tells a story or expresses their feelings.

Share and Discuss
Allow the student to share their artwork with you. Ask them to explain their choices and what they like about their creation. Discuss the emotions or messages they tried to convey, just like Frida Kahlo did in her art.
