Materials and Prep

  • Computer or tablet with internet access
  • Pen or pencil
  • Blank paper or notebook

No prior knowledge of Minecraft is necessary, but it would be helpful if the student has some basic familiarity with the game.

Activities

  1. Reading Minecraft: Begin by selecting a Minecraft-themed book or short story. It can be a novel, a guidebook, or even a fanfiction. Read a chapter or a significant portion of the chosen text.
  2. Character Analysis: Choose a character from the reading and create a character profile. Write down their name, appearance, personality traits, and any other relevant information. Include quotes or passages from the text that support your analysis.
  3. Plot Summary: Summarize the main events of the reading. Identify the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Use Minecraft terms or examples to make it more engaging.
  4. Make Connections: Discuss how the events or themes in the reading relate to the game Minecraft. Can you draw any parallels between the characters or situations in the text and the Minecraft world?
  5. Creative Writing: Imagine you are a character in the Minecraft world. Write a short story or diary entry describing an adventure or challenge you faced. Incorporate elements from the reading to make it more interesting.
