Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have a basic understanding of The Creation Bible story and its significance.

Materials and Prep

  • A Bible
  • Coloring materials (crayons, colored pencils, markers)
  • Blank paper
  • Optional: Art supplies (construction paper, glue, scissors)

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  • Read the Creation Bible Story: Read the story of creation from the Bible together. Encourage the student to listen carefully and ask questions if they don't understand something.
  • Draw and Color Creation Scenes: Provide the student with blank paper and coloring materials. Ask them to draw and color scenes from each day of creation as described in the story. Encourage creativity and imagination.
  • Act Out the Creation Story: Help the student act out the creation story using their drawings as props. They can take turns being different elements of creation, such as the sun, moon, animals, and plants.
  • Create a Creation Collage: If you have art supplies available, guide the student to create a collage using construction paper, glue, and their drawings. They can cut out different elements of creation and arrange them on the paper to create a visual representation of the story.

Talking Points

  • God Created the World: "In the beginning, God created the world. He made everything we see around us, like the sky, the land, the trees, and the animals."
  • Days of Creation: "God created the world in six days. On the first day, He made light. On the second day, He separated the waters. On the third day, He created land, plants, and trees. On the fourth day, He made the sun, moon, and stars. On the fifth day, He created birds and fish. On the sixth day, He made animals and humans."
  • Humans are Special: "God created humans on the sixth day. He made them in His own image, which means we are special and unique. We have the ability to think, feel, and make choices."
  • Taking Care of Creation: "God gave us the responsibility to take care of His creation. We should be good stewards of the Earth, which means we should protect and care for it."
  • Rest on the Seventh Day: "After creating everything, God rested on the seventh day. This is why we have a special day called the Sabbath, where we can rest, spend time with family, and worship God."
