No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  • Winter Word Hunt: Go on a scavenger hunt around your house or outside to find objects related to winter. Write down the names of the objects and practice spelling them.
  • Winter Word Puzzles: Create word puzzles using winter-themed words. Cut out letters from magazines or newspapers and ask your child to arrange them to spell the words.
  • Snowball Spelling: Write winter words on small pieces of paper and crumple them up to make snowballs. Have a "snowball fight" by throwing the snowballs around the room. When you say "stop," your child should pick up a snowball, uncrumple it, and spell the word correctly.
  • Winter Word Art: Write winter words in large letters on a piece of paper. Encourage your child to decorate each word using crayons, markers, or colored pencils.
