  • German vocabulary flashcards (you can create your own)
  • Printed handouts with German phrases and translations

Activities

  1. Activity 1: Introduction

Start by introducing yourself in German and explaining the importance of learning a new language. Encourage the student to ask questions and participate actively throughout the lesson.

  2. Activity 2: Vocabulary Flashcards

Show the student a flashcard with a German word and its English translation. Have the student repeat the word after you and try to remember the translation. Go through several flashcards, practicing pronunciation and memorization.

  3. Activity 3: Introducing Yourself

Provide the student with a handout that includes phrases for introducing oneself in German. Practice saying these phrases together and encourage the student to create their own introduction using the provided vocabulary.

  4. Activity 4: Counting in German

Teach the student how to count from 1 to 10 in German. Practice saying the numbers together and then play a game where you say a number in English, and the student has to say the corresponding number in German.

  5. Activity 5: Basic Greetings

Introduce common German greetings such as "Guten Morgen" (Good morning), "Guten Tag" (Good day), and "Auf Wiedersehen" (Goodbye). Practice saying these greetings and encourage the student to use them in appropriate situations throughout the day.
