Materials and Prep
- Weather chart or poster
- Markers or crayons
- Whiteboard or blackboard
- Weather flashcards (optional)
No prior knowledge is needed for this lesson.
Activities
- Start by discussing with the student what weather is and how it affects our daily lives. Ask questions like "What is your favorite type of weather?" or "How does the weather change throughout the year?"
- Show the student a weather chart or poster and explain the different types of weather they may encounter, such as sunny, cloudy, rainy, windy, snowy, and stormy.
- Ask the student to draw their favorite type of weather on the whiteboard or blackboard using markers or crayons. Encourage them to be creative and include details like the sun, clouds, raindrops, or snowflakes.
- If available, use weather flashcards to play a matching game. Lay out the flashcards face down and take turns flipping two cards at a time, trying to find a matching pair of weather conditions.
