Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to explore and identify past objects and places, both familiar and unfamiliar, in order to develop an understanding of history.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and pencils
- Access to a computer or library books
- Optional: Objects or pictures representing different time periods
Activities
- "Time Travel" Collage: Have the student create a collage using pictures of objects and places from different time periods. Encourage them to include both familiar and unfamiliar items to spark curiosity and discussion.
- Historical Scavenger Hunt: Provide the student with a list of objects or pictures representing different time periods. Have them search their house or the internet to find examples of each item. They can create a visual display or take pictures to share their findings.
- Storytelling Through Art: Ask the student to choose an object or place from history that interests them. Have them draw a picture or create a painting that tells a story about that particular object or place. Encourage them to use their imagination and think about what life might have been like during that time.
