Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have a better understanding of how to stay healthy, safe, and active.

Materials and Prep

  • No materials are required for this lesson.
  • Make sure the student is dressed comfortably and has enough space to move around.

Activities

  1. Stretching and Warm-up

Start the lesson by guiding the student through a series of stretching exercises. Encourage them to reach for the sky, touch their toes, and twist their bodies gently. This will help warm up their muscles and prepare them for physical activity.

  2. Obstacle Course

Create a simple obstacle course using pillows, hula hoops, and other household objects. Have the student navigate through the course by jumping over pillows, crawling under tables, and stepping inside hula hoops. This will help improve their coordination and balance.

  3. Healthy Snack Preparation

Teach the student how to prepare a healthy snack, such as a fruit salad or a vegetable wrap. Discuss the importance of eating nutritious foods and how they can help keep our bodies strong and active.

  4. Safety Scavenger Hunt

Hide several safety-related objects around the house, such as a first aid kit, a fire extinguisher, or a seatbelt. Give the student clues to find each item and explain why they are important for staying safe.
