Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and spell common rainforest-related words.

Materials and Prep

  • Whiteboard or paper
  • Markers or pencils
  • Rainforest pictures or books

Activities

  1. Introduction: Show the student pictures or read a book about rainforests to generate excitement and interest.

  2. Word Hunt: Write down rainforest-related words on the whiteboard or paper. Have the student search for those words in the pictures or books, and then spell them out loud.

  3. Word Building: Give the student letter cards (can be made using paper or index cards) with letters to build rainforest-related words. Have them arrange the letters to spell the words correctly.

  4. Rainforest Spelling Bee: Take turns with the student in saying a rainforest-related word. The student should spell it out loud. Encourage them to use their letter cards if needed.

  5. Wrap-up: Review the words learned and congratulate the student on their spelling skills.
