Objective

Materials and Prep

  • Bird identification book or printouts
  • Paper and crayons
  • Access to a window or outdoor area

Activities

  • Go on a bird-watching adventure: Encourage the student to observe birds in their natural habitat. If possible, provide binoculars to enhance their experience. Ask them to draw or describe the birds they see.
  • Create a bird identification chart: Show the student pictures of different birds and help them create a chart with the names and characteristics of each bird.
  • Make a bird feeder: Help the student make a simple bird feeder using materials like pinecones, peanut butter, and birdseed. Hang it outside and observe the birds that come to feed.
  • Play a bird sounds guessing game: Play different bird sounds and ask the student to guess which bird is making each sound. Provide clues if needed.
