  • Adding Eggs: Imagine a chicken laid 3 eggs in the morning and 2 more in the afternoon. How many eggs did the chicken lay in total? Write down the answer.
  • Subtracting Chicks: If a chicken had 7 chicks but 4 of them went to a different farm, how many chicks are left with the chicken? Write down the answer.
  • Multiplying Feed: If each chicken eats 2 cups of feed per day, and there are 5 chickens, how many cups of feed do they eat in total? Write down the answer.
  • Dividing Eggs: If there are 12 eggs and you want to share them equally among 3 chickens, how many eggs will each chicken get? Write down the answer.

Talking Points

  • "Mathematics is all around us, even in our favorite animals like chickens!"
  • "Counting is important to understand how many feathers a chicken has."
  • "When we add, we are combining numbers to find the total. Just like adding the number of eggs a chicken laid in the morning and afternoon."
  • "Subtraction helps us find out how many chicks are left with the chicken after some went to a different farm."
  • "Multiplication is like repeated addition. We can use it to find out how much feed all the chickens eat in total."
  • "Division helps us share things equally. We can use it to divide the eggs equally among the chickens."
  • "Remember, it's always important to write down your answers so you can keep track of your calculations."
