Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have a basic understanding of traveling from Australia to Singapore and the different aspects involved in the journey.

Materials and Prep

  • Globe or world map
  • Paper and crayons
  • Books or pictures about Australia and Singapore
  • Optional: toy airplane or boat

Before starting the lesson, make sure the student has some basic knowledge of Australia and Singapore, such as their locations on the map and a general idea that they are different countries.

Activities

  • Create a Travel Journal: Have the student make a travel journal by folding several sheets of paper in half and stapling them together. Encourage them to decorate the cover and explain that they will be using it to document their journey from Australia to Singapore.
  • Map Exploration: Show the student a globe or world map and point out Australia and Singapore. Discuss the distance between the two countries and how they are located in different parts of the world.
  • Drawing and Coloring: Provide the student with crayons and paper. Ask them to draw and color pictures of things they might see or experience during their journey, such as airplanes, boats, landmarks, or different landscapes.
  • Story Time: Read books or show pictures about Australia and Singapore to the student. Talk about the unique features, culture, and attractions of each country. Encourage the student to ask questions and share their thoughts.
  • Pretend Play: Use a toy airplane or boat (if available) to engage in pretend play. Let the student imagine themselves traveling from Australia to Singapore, explaining what they see and do along the way.
