Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to improve your spelling skills while exploring the world of Seekers book.

Materials and Prep

  • Seekers book (or any book from the series)
  • Paper and pen/pencil

Activities

  1. Spelling Bee: Choose 10 challenging words from the Seekers book. Write them on separate pieces of paper, fold them, and put them in a bowl. Take turns with a family member or friend to draw a word from the bowl and spell it out loud. Keep score to see who gets the most words correct.

  2. Word Search: Create a word search puzzle using vocabulary words from the Seekers book. Include at least 15 words related to the story. You can use online word search generators or create one by hand. Solve the word search to find all the hidden words.

  3. Spelling Story: Choose a scene or chapter from the Seekers book and rewrite it, but with intentionally misspelled words. Swap your story with a classmate or family member, and challenge each other to find and correct the misspelled words. Discuss the importance of accurate spelling in conveying meaning.
