Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand and use basic Spanish vocabulary and phrases related to the Seekers book.

Materials and Prep

  • Seekers book (or any related materials)
  • Pen and paper
  • Access to a Spanish-English dictionary (online or physical)

Activities

  1. Read a chapter or section from the Seekers book in English.

    While reading, make a list of unfamiliar words or phrases that you would like to learn in Spanish.

  2. Using a Spanish-English dictionary, look up the words and phrases from your list.

    Write down the Spanish translations and their meanings in English.

  3. Create flashcards with the Spanish words on one side and the English meanings on the other side.

    Practice flipping through the flashcards and testing yourself on the translations.

  4. Choose a few sentences or short paragraphs from the Seekers book that you find interesting.

    Try to translate them into Spanish using your newly acquired vocabulary and phrases.

  5. Write a short paragraph in Spanish summarizing the chapter or section you read.

    Use as many of the new words and phrases as possible.
