Talking Points

  • Continents are large land masses on Earth. They are like big pieces of land that are surrounded by water.

  • There are seven continents in the world: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, Australia, and South America.

  • Oceans are large bodies of saltwater that cover most of Earth's surface. There are five oceans: Atlantic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, Southern Ocean, and Arctic Ocean.

  • The continents and oceans are important to know because they help us understand the geography of our planet and how different countries and cultures are spread out across the world.
