Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to explore and navigate Google Earth to learn about different places around the world.

Materials and Prep

  • A computer or tablet with internet access
  • A Google Earth account (if not already created, you can sign up for free)

Activities

  • Activity 1: Introduction to Google Earth

    Start by opening Google Earth on your computer or tablet. Explore the different features and buttons available on the screen. Take some time to get familiar with the interface.

  • Activity 2: Exploring Famous Landmarks

    Search for famous landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty, or Great Wall of China. Use the zoom and rotate functions to get a closer look at these landmarks. Discuss their significance and location with your student.

  • Activity 3: Discovering Natural Wonders

    Search for natural wonders like the Grand Canyon, Amazon Rainforest, or Great Barrier Reef. Discuss the unique features of these places and why they are important for our planet.

  • Activity 4: Traveling to Different Countries

    Select a few different countries on the map and explore their culture, landmarks, and geography. Encourage your student to ask questions and learn interesting facts about each country.
