Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to prepare a simple and delicious meal independently.

Materials and Prep

  • Cooking utensils (knife, cutting board, mixing bowls, etc.)
  • Ingredients for the chosen recipe
  • Access to a stove or oven
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene

Activities

  1. Choose a recipe

    Encourage the student to select a recipe they are excited about. It could be a favorite dish or something new they want to try.

  2. Gather ingredients and equipment

    Guide the student in gathering all the necessary ingredients and cooking utensils for the recipe.

  3. Preparation and cooking

    Walk the student through each step of the recipe, explaining the techniques and methods involved. Encourage them to take their time and ask questions if needed.

  4. Taste and evaluate

    Once the dish is ready, have the student taste it and evaluate the flavors and textures. Discuss what worked well and what could be improved.

  5. Clean up

    Teach the student the importance of cleaning up after cooking. Show them how to wash dishes, wipe down surfaces, and store leftovers properly.
