Objective

By the end of this lesson, the Eighth grade-level homeschool student will be able to apply their writing skills to create a descriptive and engaging piece of writing related to Overwatch 2.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper or word processing software
  • Pen or pencil
  • Computer with internet access (optional)

Before starting the lesson, the student should have a basic understanding of the game Overwatch 2.

Activities

  1. Brainstorming: Have the student brainstorm ideas related to Overwatch 2. They can think about their favorite characters, game modes, maps, or memorable moments from playing the game.

  2. Creating an Outline: Instruct the student to create an outline for their piece of writing. The outline should include an introduction, body paragraphs with supporting details, and a conclusion.

  3. Writing the Piece: Encourage the student to write a descriptive and engaging piece of writing about Overwatch 2, using their outline as a guide. They should focus on using vivid language, sensory details, and their personal experiences with the game to make their writing come alive.

  4. Editing and Revising: Once the initial draft is complete, have the student review their writing for clarity, grammar, and organization. They should make any necessary revisions to improve their piece.

  5. Sharing and Reflecting: Provide an opportunity for the student to share their writing with a family member or friend. Afterward, ask them to reflect on the writing process and any improvements they could make for future pieces.
