Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about different housework tasks and how to perform them in a fun and engaging way.

Materials and Prep

  • Cleaning supplies (e.g., broom, dustpan, mop, cloth)
  • A small bucket or basin
  • A small spray bottle filled with water
  • A list of housework tasks

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Play the "Clean-Up Race" game: Set a timer for 5 minutes and challenge yourself to tidy up as many toys or objects in your room as possible before the time runs out. Remember to put each item in its designated place.

  2. Practice sweeping: Grab a broom and sweep a designated area of the floor. Try to make a neat pile of dirt or crumbs. You can even pretend you are a superhero sweeping away the mess!

  3. Mop the floor: Fill the small bucket or basin with water and add a few drops of soap. Dip a mop or cloth into the soapy water and wring it out. Then, mop a section of the floor using back-and-forth motions. Imagine you are ice-skating while mopping!

  4. Wipe surfaces: Fill the spray bottle with water and use it to spray countertops, tables, or other surfaces. Take a cloth and wipe away any dirt or spills. Make sure to reach all the corners and edges. You can turn this into a "magic cleaning" activity by pretending the cloth has special powers to make things shiny and clean.

  5. Make your bed: Practice making your own bed by straightening the sheets, fluffing the pillows, and arranging everything neatly. You can even add a special touch by arranging stuffed animals or decorative pillows.
