Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and calculate the area and perimeter of different shapes. You will also be able to apply these concepts in creating your own artwork.

Materials and Prep

Activities

• Activity 1: Drawing Shapes

Start by drawing different shapes on your paper, such as squares, rectangles, and triangles. Make sure to label the sides of each shape.

• Activity 2: Calculating Perimeter

Using your ruler, measure the length of each side of the shapes you drew. Add up the lengths of all the sides to find the perimeter of each shape.

• Activity 3: Calculating Area

For each shape, count the number of squares that can fit inside it. Multiply the length and width of the shape to find its area.

• Activity 4: Artwork Creation

Now that you understand how to calculate area and perimeter, use your creativity to create a piece of artwork using different shapes. Make sure to calculate the area and perimeter of your artwork as well.
