Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create your own anime-inspired artwork using basic drawing techniques.

Activities

  1. Warm-up exercise: Start by practicing basic anime facial expressions. Draw a series of small circles and within each circle, draw different facial expressions such as happy, sad, angry, surprised, etc. Use reference images to guide you.

  2. Character creation: Choose a favorite anime character or create your own original character. Start by sketching the basic shape of the head and body using simple geometric shapes like circles and rectangles.

  3. Add details: Once you have the basic shapes, start adding details like eyes, nose, mouth, and hair. Pay attention to the unique characteristics of anime-style features, such as large eyes and exaggerated hairstyles.

  4. Inking: Once you are satisfied with your pencil sketch, carefully trace over the lines with a pen or marker. Use bold, confident strokes to define the final shape of your character.

  5. Coloring: Use colored pencils or markers to add color to your artwork. Experiment with different shading techniques to create depth and dimension.
