Materials and Prep
- A computer or device with internet access
- Paper and crayons or markers
- A comfortable space to sit and learn
No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Draw Your Dream Dog: Encourage the student to use their imagination and draw a picture of their dream dog. Ask them to think about what color it would be, how big or small, and any special features it might have.
- Dog Breeds Match-Up: Show the student pictures of different dog breeds and ask them to match each picture to the correct breed name. You can find these pictures online or use a dog breed book if available.
- Act Like a Dog: Have the student pretend to be a dog and act out different dog behaviors. They can bark, wag their imaginary tail, fetch an invisible ball, or even roll over. Encourage them to be creative!
- Doggy Story Time: Read a children's book about dogs together. Pause at different points to ask the student questions about the story or have them predict what might happen next.
- Doggy Trivia: Ask the student fun dog-related questions, such as "What sound does a dog make?" or "What do dogs like to eat?" Give them positive reinforcement for each correct answer.
