Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will learn about history through fun craft activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Markers or crayons
  • Pencils
  • History books or online resources

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have all the materials ready and find some interesting history books or online resources to refer to during the activities.

Activities

  • Create a timeline: Draw a long line on a piece of construction paper. Use markers or crayons to add dates and important events in history. Cut out pictures or draw illustrations to represent each event and glue them along the timeline.
  • Make a historical mask: Choose a historical figure you find interesting. Draw the face of that person on a piece of construction paper and cut it out. Use markers or crayons to color the face. Attach a string or elastic to the sides of the mask so you can wear it.
  • Build a historical monument: Pick a famous monument from history, such as the Pyramids of Egypt or the Colosseum in Rome. Use construction paper to create a 3D model of the monument. Cut out and fold the paper to form the structure, then glue the pieces together.
  • Design a historical flag: Think about a specific time period or event in history. Create a flag that represents that period or event. Draw symbols or write words on a piece of construction paper to illustrate your flag. Explain the meaning behind your design.
