Activities
- Create an Australian Animal Artwork: Have the student choose their favorite Australian animal and draw a picture of it using crayons or colored pencils.
- Read an Australian Storybook: Read a storybook about Australia to the student, discussing the characters, setting, and key events in the story.
- Locate Australia on a Globe or Map: Show the student where Australia is on a globe or world map, emphasizing its position as a continent and its unique shape.
- Australian Flag Coloring: If available, provide the student with an Australian flag printout and encourage them to color it in using the correct colors (red, white, and blue).
- Counting Kangaroos: Using a picture or toy kangaroos, help the student practice counting by asking them to count the number of kangaroos they see.
- Sing an Australian Song: Teach the student a simple Australian song, such as "Waltzing Matilda," and sing it together, encouraging movement and participation.
- Australian Animal Movements: Choose a few Australian animals (e.g., kangaroo, koala, emu) and demonstrate their movements, encouraging the student to imitate them.
