Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will learn about different aspects of water and its importance in our lives.
Materials and Prep
- A glass of water
- A small container or bowl
- A towel or napkin
- A small toy boat or rubber duck
- A notebook or paper
- A pencil or crayons
No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Activity 1: Water Exploration - Fill the small container or bowl with water. Observe the water closely. What does it look like? How does it feel? Can you see your reflection in the water?
- Activity 2: Sink or Float - Gather some small objects from around your house. Predict whether each object will sink or float in water. Test your predictions by placing the objects in the bowl of water. Record your observations in your notebook.
- Activity 3: Water Art - Using your pencil or crayons, draw a picture of your favorite water scene. It could be a beach, a lake, or even a rainy day. Let your imagination run wild!
- Activity 4: Water Journey - Take your toy boat or rubber duck and imagine it is going on an adventure through different water bodies. Create a story about its journey, including encounters with fish, waves, and other marine creatures.
Talking Points
- Water is all around us. We use it for drinking, bathing, and many other things.
- Water can be found in different forms, such as liquid (like the water in your glass), solid (like ice), and gas (like steam from a hot shower).
- Water is essential for plants and animals to survive. They need water to grow and stay healthy.
- When objects are placed in water, they either sink or float. Heavier objects sink, while lighter objects float on the surface.
- Water can change its shape and take the shape of its container. It can also flow and move from one place to another.
- It's important to conserve water and not waste it. We can turn off the faucet when we're not using it and fix any leaks we find.
