Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify different types of trucks and understand basic vocabulary related to trucks.

Materials and Prep

  • Toy trucks (various types)
  • Construction paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Scissors
  • Tape or glue

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  • Create a Truck Collage: Provide the student with construction paper, markers or crayons, scissors, and tape or glue. Encourage them to cut out truck shapes from the construction paper and decorate them with colors and patterns. Help them arrange and stick the trucks onto a larger piece of paper to create a collage.
  • Sort the Trucks: Gather the toy trucks and ask the student to sort them based on different characteristics, such as size, color, or type (e.g., fire trucks, dump trucks, tow trucks). Guide them through the sorting process, discussing the differences between the trucks as they go.
  • Truck Memory Game: Create a simple memory game using pictures or drawings of different trucks. Lay the cards facedown and take turns flipping two cards at a time. If the student finds a matching pair, they get to keep the cards. The game continues until all the cards have been matched.
