Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create their own pizza shop artwork and practice basic English vocabulary related to pizza.

Materials and Prep

  • Construction paper (various colors)
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Markers or crayons
  • Plain white paper

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  • Create a Pizza Shop Sign: Help the student cut out letters from construction paper to spell out "Pizza Shop". Encourage them to use different colors for each letter. Once the letters are cut out, assist the student in gluing them onto a plain white paper to create their own pizza shop sign.
  • Design a Pizza Menu: Provide the student with a blank piece of paper and ask them to draw and label their favorite pizza toppings. Help them write the names of the toppings using markers or crayons. Encourage creativity and use of different colors.
  • Make Pizza Collage: Give the student a piece of construction paper as the base for their pizza collage. Show them how to tear small pieces of colored construction paper to represent different ingredients like cheese, tomatoes, and pepperoni. Let them glue the torn pieces onto the base to create their own unique pizza artwork.
  • Role Play Pizza Shop: Set up a pretend pizza shop using play dough or paper cutouts. Encourage the student to take turns being the customer and the pizza chef. Help them practice basic English phrases such as "Can I have a cheese pizza, please?" and "Thank you for the delicious pizza!"
