Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil
- Coloring materials
No specific knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
Create your own Sonic the Hedgehog math problems:
Draw Sonic characters on a piece of paper and write math problems next to them. For example, you can draw Sonic with 3 rings and write "Sonic found 3 more rings. How many rings does Sonic have now?" Solve the problems and have fun!
Sonic coloring math:
Print or draw Sonic coloring pages. Solve math problems to determine the colors you will use. For example, if the answer to a problem is 5, color Sonic's shoes blue. Get creative and make your own color-coding system!
Speedy addition and subtraction:
Set a timer for a short period of time, like 1 minute. Write down as many addition and subtraction problems as you can within that time. Challenge yourself to solve them quickly, just like Sonic speeds through levels!
