Objective

Materials and Prep

  • Water
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Food coloring
  • Small containers or cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • A Hannah Montana poster or image

No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Create a volcano eruption:

    • Place a small container on a flat surface.
    • Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda to the container.
    • Add a few drops of food coloring to the baking soda.
    • Sprinkle some water on top of the baking soda.
    • Pour vinegar into the container and watch the eruption!
  2. Color-changing magic:

    • Fill two small containers halfway with water.
    • Add a few drops of different food coloring to each container.
    • Show the Hannah Montana image to the containers and observe any color changes.
