Objective

By the end of this lesson, the 1-year-old student will have fun engaging in physical activities related to hearts.

Materials and Prep

  • No additional materials are needed.
  • Ensure a safe and spacious area for the activities.

Activities

  • Heart Hop: Encourage the student to jump and hop around like a heart. Show them how to make heart shapes with their arms while jumping.

  • Heart Toss: Use soft toys or pillows shaped like hearts. Have the student practice tossing the hearts into a designated target area, such as a laundry basket or a hoop.

  • Heart Balance: Ask the student to balance on one foot while holding a heart-shaped object. Encourage them to switch feet and try balancing on the other foot as well.

  • Heart Dance: Play some upbeat music and encourage the student to dance freely, imitating heart-shaped movements with their body.

  • "Hearts are shapes that look like this: ♥"
  • "We can jump and hop like hearts. Let's try!"
  • "Can you throw the heart into the basket? Good job!"
  • "Let's try balancing on one foot while holding the heart. Can you do it?"
