Step 1: Draw Your House
In the space below, draw your house. Make sure to include the following:
- Rooms (living room, bedroom, kitchen, etc.)
- Doors and windows
- Outdoor features (garage, shed, etc.)
Step 2: Identify Safe Spaces
Next, identify the safest areas in your house during a tornado. These should be places that are away from windows and outside walls. Where would you go to stay safe?
Step 3: Create a Tornado Safety Plan
Write down the steps your family should take during a tornado warning. Include where to go, what to do, and any supplies you might need.
Step 4: Discuss with Your Family
Share your tornado safety plan with your family. How will they help you stay safe during a tornado? Write down one thing each family member can do.
Step 5: Reflect
After discussing your plan, reflect on what you've learned about tornado safety. What is the most important thing to remember during a tornado?
