The fox wanted the food for himself, so he came up with a plan. He flattered the crow, saying, "Oh, you must be the most beautiful bird I’ve ever seen! I’ve heard that crows can sing the most wonderful songs. Let me hear you sing, please!"
The crow, proud of the compliment, opened his mouth to sing. As soon as he did, the food fell out, and the fox quickly snatched it up. The crow was disappointed and realized he had been tricked. The fox laughed and said, "You should never let flattery make you forget to be careful."
