Instructions

For this activity, you will conduct a character analysis of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Choose one character to write a diary entry from their perspective. Think about their feelings, thoughts, and experiences as you write.

Character Analysis

Before you write your diary entry, take a moment to think about the traits and experiences of the character you chose:

  • Harry Potter: Brave, loyal, often faces challenges with courage. He has a strong sense of justice and is deeply affected by loss.
  • Hermione Granger: Intelligent, hardworking, and devoted to her friends. She values knowledge and often uses her intellect to solve problems.
  • Ron Weasley: Funny, supportive, and sometimes feels insecure. He values friendship and family, and is always there for his friends despite his own fears.

Diary Entry Guidelines

Your diary entry should include the following:

  1. Begin with the date and location, like a real diary.
  2. Express your character’s thoughts and feelings about a specific event.
  3. Include at least three thoughts and feelings that show the character’s personality.
  4. Write at least 5-7 sentences in total.

Example Diary Entry

Date: October 12, 1991
Location: Gryffindor Common Room

Today was a whirlwind! I can't believe we actually faced a troll in the dungeon. At first, I was terrified, but then I felt a rush of adrenaline when I realized we could save Hermione. Helping her made me feel brave for once. I’ve always felt like the sidekick, but today, I felt like I mattered. I hope that when people look back on this day, they remember how strong our friendship really is.
