Writing an essay about yourself is a great way to share who you are! An essay is like a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. Let's plan a 4-paragraph essay all about the most interesting person in the world: YOU! Use the ideas below to help you write each part.

Paragraph 1: The Introduction (Who are you?)

This is your grand opening! Grab your reader's attention. Your goal is to introduce yourself and make someone want to keep reading.

Ideas to include:

  • Start with a fun greeting.
  • State your name and age.
  • Share one fun or surprising fact about yourself. (For example: "I can wiggle my ears," or "My favorite animal is a capybara.")

My Plan for Paragraph 1:

Paragraph 2: The Body (Your World: Family & Friends)

Now, let's dive deeper. This paragraph is all about the special people (and pets!) in your life.

Ideas to include:

  • Who is in your family? (Parents, brothers, sisters).
  • Do you have any pets? What are their names and what are they like?
  • Who is your best friend? What makes them a good friend?
  • Mention a fun activity you like to do with your family or friends.

My Plan for Paragraph 2:

Paragraph 3: The Body (Your Sparkle: Hobbies & Favorites)

This paragraph is about what makes you unique! What do you love to do? What are your favorite things?

Ideas to include:

  • What is your favorite subject in school and why?
  • What are your hobbies? (e.g., playing video games, drawing, playing soccer, reading).
  • What is your favorite food, book, or movie?
  • Is there something you are really good at?

My Plan for Paragraph 3:

Paragraph 4: The Conclusion (The Grand Finale!)

Time to wrap it all up! A good conclusion reminds the reader what your essay was about and ends with a strong final thought.

Ideas to include:

  • Briefly summarize what makes you special (e.g., "Between my funny family and my love for building robots...").
  • What do you dream about for the future? (What do you want to be when you grow up?)
  • End with one final sentence about why you are happy to be you!

My Plan for Paragraph 4:

Answer Key

Remember, your own story is the best story! These are just examples to give you an idea of what a finished paragraph might look like.

Example for Paragraph 1 (Introduction):

Have you ever met someone who can name every single dinosaur? Well, you have now! My name is Leo, I am nine years old, and I am a huge dinosaur expert. From my awesome family to my love of drawing, there are a lot of things that make me who I am.

Example for Paragraph 2 (Family & Friends):

My world is filled with fun people. I live with my mom, my dad, and my annoying but funny little sister, Mia. We also have a lazy golden retriever named Gus who loves belly rubs more than anything. My best friend is Sam, and we live on the same street. We spend hours building amazing Lego castles in my room and pretending to fight off dragons.

Example for Paragraph 3 (Hobbies & Favorites):

When I'm not with my family, I have tons of hobbies to keep me busy. My favorite subject in school is art because I love to create things. After school, you can usually find me drawing comics about a superhero squirrel. I'm also getting really good at playing the piano. My favorite food is definitely pizza with extra cheese, which is the perfect meal to eat while watching my favorite movie, How to Train Your Dragon.

Example for Paragraph 4 (Conclusion):

Being a dinosaur-loving, comic-drawing nine-year-old is a pretty great job. One day, I hope to become an animator and make my own cartoons. All of these things, from my family to my hobbies, make me unique, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
