4. Comprehension: People and Their Jobs
Notes
Read the following text carefully to understand what each person does for a living.
Three Interesting Occupations
Have you ever wondered what it takes to do a certain job? Let's look at three different professions. Anya is a veterinarian. Every day, she helps sick or injured animals. Her work can be challenging because her patients can't tell her what's wrong. She uses X-rays, blood tests, and her own expertise to diagnose problems. Anya loves her job because she gets to make animals healthy and happy again.
Leo is a game developer. He works with a team of artists and programmers to create the video games you love to play. Leo's specific role is to write the code that makes the characters move and interact with their world. It requires a lot of problem-solving and creativity. Sometimes, he has to fix "bugs," which are errors in the code. He finds it incredibly rewarding to see millions of people enjoying a game he helped create.
Maria is an environmental scientist. She studies the natural world and works to protect it. She might spend one week in a lab analysing water samples and the next week hiking through a forest to track wildlife populations. Her goal is to understand how human activities affect the environment and to find solutions for problems like pollution and climate change. Maria's job is important for the future of our planet.
