Topic 1: Daily Routine

Notes: A daily routine is the set of things you do every day, usually in the same order. It starts from when you wake up until you go to bed. Examples: wake up, brush my teeth, eat breakfast, go to school, do homework, play, eat dinner, go to sleep.

Activity A: Unscramble the Routine! The actions in this daily routine are mixed up. Number them from 1 to 5 to put them in the correct order.

Notes: People live in different kinds of homes, like a house, an apartment (in a tall building), or a bungalow (a house with only one floor). Homes have different rooms for different activities, like a kitchen (for cooking), a bedroom (for sleeping), and a living room (for relaxing and watching TV).

Topic 3: Prepositions

Notes: A preposition is a word that tells you where something is.
  • in: inside something (The toy is in the box.)
  • on: on top of a surface (The book is on the table.)
  • under: below something (The cat is under the chair.)
  • next to: beside something (The lamp is next to the bed.)
  • between: in the middle of two things (The sofa is between the two plants.)

Topic 4: Contractions

Notes: A contraction is a shorter way to say two words. We use an apostrophe ( ' ) to show where the missing letters are.
Example: is not becomes isn't. I am becomes I'm. they are becomes they're.

Topic 5: Punctuation

Notes: Punctuation helps us understand sentences.
  • Use a period ( . ) at the end of a statement.
  • Use a question mark ( ? ) at the end of a question.
  • Use an exclamation mark ( ! ) to show strong feeling, like excitement or surprise.

Activity H: Add the End Mark! Add the correct punctuation ( . ? ! ) to the end of each sentence.

Topic 6: Using and, but, or so

Notes: We use these words to connect ideas.
  • and: joins two similar ideas (I like apples and bananas.)
  • but: joins two different or opposite ideas (I want to play outside, but it is raining.)
  • so: shows a result (It was raining, so I took an umbrella.)

Notes: We use the word because to explain 'why' something is happening. It gives a reason. (I am happy because it is my birthday.)

Topic 8: Reading and Writing

Notes: When you read a story, pay attention to the details. This helps you answer questions that start with Who (a person), What (a thing or action), Where (a place), When (a time), and Why (a reason).
