The crew of the starship Odyssey journeyed to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Their mission was of paramount importance to the future of humanity. While the ship’s computer logs contained hours of data, the captain's personal diary provided a far more engrossing account of their discoveries. He praised his crew's exemplary performance under pressure, even when facing the abysmal emptiness of deep space, which could crush the spirits of the unprepared.
Exercise 4: Writer's Challenge
Answers will vary. The student should use at least three sophisticated vocabulary words correctly in the context of a restaurant review.
Example Answer: The chef's performance was inconsistent. The seared scallops were exemplary, cooked to perfection with a delightful citrus sauce. However, the risotto that followed was abysmal, a mushy and flavorless disappointment. It is pivotal that the kitchen addresses this lack of consistency if the restaurant hopes to succeed.
