What is the Ice Age?
The Ice Age was a period in Earth's history when large areas of the planet were covered in ice. It began about 2.4 million years ago and lasted until about 11,700 years ago. During this time, temperatures were much colder than they are today.
Why Did the Ice Age Happen?
The Ice Age happened due to changes in the Earth's climate, which were affected by things like the amount of sunlight reaching the Earth, volcanic activity, and the position of the continents.
What Happened During the Ice Age?
During the Ice Age, glaciers formed and expanded across continents. Many animals adapted to the cold environment, including woolly mammoths, saber-toothed cats, and giant sloths. Some plants also adapted to the cold temperatures.
