Read the story about a friendly little dragon named Sparky. After you finish reading, answer the questions that follow. Good luck!

Part 1: Read the Story

In a cozy cave on top of Sunny Meadow Hill lived a small dragon named Sparky. His scales weren't scary; they were a gleaming emerald green, and they shimmered in the sunlight. The people in the village below often heard his happy roars and trembled with fear, thinking he was a dangerous beast.

But Sparky had a very big, and very silly, secret. One afternoon, a curious girl named Mia followed a trail of colorful yarn up the hill. She peeked behind a large boulder and discovered Sparky. He wasn't guarding treasure. He was happily munching on a rainbow-striped sock! Mia giggled. Sparky thought socks were the most delicious snack in the entire world, especially the fuzzy ones. He loved finding lost, mismatched socks left behind after picnics. When Mia told the other children, they started leaving their old, outgrown socks for Sparky at the bottom of the hill. Sparky became the happiest and best-fed dragon in the land.
