The Sleepy Bear's Big Snack
Barnaby was a big, brown bear who loved to sleep. More than sleeping, he loved to eat! As autumn leaves turned bright yellow and orange, Barnaby knew it was time to prepare for his long winter nap. To do that, he needed to find a big meal.
First, he ambled down to the river. With a mighty SWIPE of his paw, he scooped a slippery salmon right out of the water. Crunch, munch! That was a good start. Next, he lumbered over to the berry patch. He found the juiciest, sweetest blackberries and ate handfuls of them until his snout was stained purple.
Feeling almost full, he remembered one more treat. He followed his nose to a tall oak tree where bees were buzzing around a hive. Barnaby didn't mind the bees. He carefully reached into the hive and pulled out a chunk of honeycomb, dripping with golden honey. It was the perfect sweet dessert.
With a full and happy belly, Barnaby the bear found a cozy cave, curled up on a bed of dry leaves, and yawned a giant yawn. He was finally ready for his long winter sleep.
