Read each section carefully and complete the fun activities to become a Sentence Superstar! Remember to use your best handwriting.
Part 1: What is a Sentence?
A sentence is a complete thought! To be complete, every sentence needs two important parts:
- A Subject: This tells us WHO or WHAT the sentence is about.
- A Predicate: This tells us what the subject IS or DOES.
Example: The happy dog wagged its tail.
(Subject) (Predicate)
Sentences also need to start with a capital letter and end with a punctuation mark, like a period (.), a question mark (?), or an exclamation point (!).
Part 2: Find the Parts!
Read the sentences below. Draw a circle around the subject and draw a line under the predicate.
- The silly monkey ate a banana.
- My teacher reads a book to the class.
- Colorful fish swim in the ocean.
- The big, yellow bus stopped at the corner.
Part 3: Fix It Up!
These sentences are missing something! Rewrite each sentence on the line below, adding a capital letter at the beginning and the correct punctuation mark at the end.

Part 4: Sentence Scramble
