What are Tenses?

Tenses are a way to show time in our writing. The three main tenses are:

  • Past Tense: The action already happened. (e.g., yesterday, last week)
    Example: She played outside.
  • Present Tense: The action is happening now or happens regularly. (e.g., today, always)
    Example: She plays outside.
  • Future Tense: The action is going to happen. (e.g., tomorrow, next year)
    Example: She will play outside.
