Listening Script: "The Mystery of the Mars Rover"

Mission Control was buzzing with a nervous energy that you could almost taste. For six long months, the space rover "Explorer-7" had been traveling through the vast, silent emptiness of space towards Mars. Today was the day it was scheduled to land.

Dr. Aris Thorne, the lead scientist, watched the main screen. On it, a computer simulation showed the rover descending through the thin, pink Martian atmosphere. "Heat shield deployed," a calm voice announced over the intercom. Aris held his breath. This was the most dangerous part. The rover had to slow down from thousands of miles per hour to almost zero in just seven minutes.

Suddenly, a new message flashed on the screen: "Signal Interrupted." A worried murmur spread through the room. The signal was gone. They were flying blind. For two whole minutes, which felt like two years, there was only silence. Dr. Thorne stared at the blank screen, his heart pounding.

Then, as suddenly as it had vanished, the signal returned. A crackle, then a clear image appeared on the screen. It wasn't a computer simulation anymore. It was a real photograph: a rocky, red landscape under a pale sky. In the corner of the image was the rover’s own wheel, firmly planted in the Martian dust. A cheer erupted in Mission Control. Explorer-7 had landed safely! Its mission to search for signs of ancient water could finally begin.
