Instructions
Instructions are a set of steps that tell us how to make or do something. They need to be clear and in the correct order!
Activity 1: Put the Steps in Order
These instructions for how to make a jam sandwich are all mixed up! Number the sentences from 1 to 4 to put them in the correct order.
- Then, spread the jam on one piece of bread.
- First, get two slices of bread and some jam.
- Finally, put the two slices of bread together.
- Next, put some butter on both slices of bread.
Activity 2: Find the "Bossy Verbs"
Instructions use "Bossy Verbs" (action words) to tell you what to do. Circle the bossy verb in each sentence.
- Get your shoes and socks.
- Put on your socks first.
- Tie the laces on your shoes.
- Wash your dirty hands.
- Draw a happy face.
Activity 3: Write Your Own Instructions
