Part 1: Read the Story
Leo was digging for treasure in his backyard when his shovel hit something hard. It wasn't a pirate's chest full of gold. It was a smooth, grey rock, no bigger than his thumb. He thought it was a bit boring, but he liked how it felt in his hand, so he put it in his pocket.
Later that day, his mom made his favorite lunch: macaroni and cheese! Leo was so happy he did a little dance. As he reached into his pocket, he felt the rock. It was warm! He pulled it out and gasped. The rock wasn't grey anymore. It was glowing a bright, sunny yellow.
He wondered if it was a trick of the light. The next morning, he couldn't find his favorite blue sock. He felt frustrated and a little grumpy. He remembered the rock and pulled it out. This time, it had turned a deep, stormy blue. Leo had discovered its secret! The rock changed color with his feelings. When he was calm, it was a peaceful green.
