Read the Story
Leo was the most impatient boy in the whole town. He couldn’t wait for his birthday, he couldn’t wait for summer, and he definitely couldn’t wait for the bus. One rainy afternoon, while exploring his grandmother’s dusty attic, he found a small, wooden box. Inside, nestled on a bed of faded velvet, were three glimmering seeds. A tiny, rolled-up note said, "The Seeds of Speed. Plant one and it will grow in a minute. But true joy comes to those who wait."
"A minute!" Leo shouted with glee. He ignored the second part of the note and rushed outside. He planted the first seed in a pot. Exactly one minute later, an enormous strawberry plant shot up, bearing a single, perfect strawberry. It was the biggest, reddest strawberry he had ever seen! He gobbled it down. It was delicious, but the fun was over so quickly.
He felt a little disappointed. He remembered the note: "True joy comes to those who wait." The next day, he planted the second seed. This time, he decided to wait an hour. He read a book, helped his dad wash the car, and played with his dog, Buster. When the hour was up, a vine had grown, not with one strawberry, but with a whole bunch! They tasted even sweeter.
Leo saved the last seed. He planted it in the garden and decided to let it grow normally. He watered it every day, pulled out weeds, and watched it grow slowly. Weeks later, the plant was covered in dozens of sweet, juicy strawberries. Sharing them with his family and friends felt like the best reward of all. He finally understood what the note meant.
