Dividing by 10, 100, or 1,000 is like a shortcut in math! It's all about moving the decimal point to the left. If a number doesn't have a decimal point, imagine it's hiding at the very end.

  • To divide by 10, move the decimal point 1 place to the left (or remove one zero from the end).
    Example: 450 ÷ 10 = 45
  • To divide by 100, move the decimal point 2 places to the left (or remove two zeros from the end).
    Example: 6,700 ÷ 100 = 67
  • To divide by 1,000, move the decimal point 3 places to the left (or remove three zeros from the end).
    Example: 89,000 ÷ 1,000 = 89
