Happy Autumn! Let's practice measuring things you might find this season. Use the rulers shown in Part 1 to find the length of each item. For Part 2, solve the word problems. For Part 3, you will need your own ruler to draw lines to the correct length. Read each question carefully!

Part 2: Autumn Measurement Math
Solve the following word problems. Show your work if you need to!
1. A small round pumpkin is 7 inches tall. A tall, skinny pumpkin is 12 inches tall. How much taller is the skinny pumpkin than the round one?

2. You are making a "Happy Autumn" banner. You need 6 pieces of orange paper that are each 8 inches long. What is the total length of paper you need in inches?

Part 3: Draw It Out!
Use your own ruler for this section. Draw a straight line in the space provided for each measurement.
1. Draw a line that is exactly 4 inches long. (This could be a corn stalk.)
2. Draw a line that is 2 and a half (2 1/2) inches long. (This could be a large pinecone.)
3. Draw a line that is 5 and a quarter (5 1/4) inches long. (This could be a long scarf for a squirrel.)

Part 2: Autumn Measurement Math
- The skinny pumpkin is 5 inches taller. (12 - 7 = 5)
- You need a total of 48 inches of paper. (6 x 8 = 48)
- The difference is 2 1/2 inches. (24 - 21.5 = 2.5)
- The maple leaf is 1 3/4 inches wider. (5 - 3 1/4 = 1 3/4)
Part 3: Draw It Out!
