Instructions
A verb is an action word! It tells you what something or someone is doing. Follow the instructions for each leafy activity below to show what you know about verbs.
Activity 1: Find the Leafy Action!
Read each sentence below. Underline the verb (the action word) in each sentence.
- A red leaf floats down from the tree.
- The children rake the leaves into a huge pile.
- I crunch the crispy leaves under my feet.
- Wind swirls the leaves all around the yard.
- We collect the prettiest leaves for our art project.
- The leaves change color in the autumn.

Verbs can tell us if an action happened in the past, is happening now (present), or will happen in the future. Fill in the blank spots in the chart below.
