Activity 1: Reading Time!
Fishing is a hobby enjoyed by people all over the world, in both freshwater and saltwater. Freshwater fishing takes place in lakes, rivers, and ponds, where anglers often seek fish like bass, trout, and catfish. Saltwater fishing happens in oceans and seas, where the fish are typically larger and include species like tuna, marlin, and cod. One important practice in modern fishing is "catch and release." This is when a fish is caught carefully, unhooked, and then returned to the water alive. This helps maintain healthy fish populations for future generations to enjoy, ensuring that our lakes and oceans stay full of life.
Answer the following questions based on the text above.
- What are two examples of places you might go for freshwater fishing?
- Name one type of fish you would most likely find in the ocean.
